POSITION SUMMARY
The Used Car Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring used vehicles that meet dealership standards. This role requires strong valuation skills, market awareness, negotiation ability, and a commitment to maintaining profitability. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Obtain used car inventory through consumer purchasing, trade ins, auctions, and wholesale channels
• Set and negotiate purchase pricing while maintaining dealership profitability
• Evaluate vehicle condition, history, and reconditioning costs to make sound purchasing decisions
• Convert consumer inquiries at a high rate through strong communication and customer service
• Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, valuations, and purchase decisions.
• Collaborate with sales and reconditioning teams to ensure timely processing of acquired vehicles.
• Monitor market trends, used vehicle values, and competitive pricing strategies
• Use web-based search tools, valuation software, and dealership systems to assess inventory opportunities

REQUIREMENTS
• Solid understanding of retail and wholesale automotive markets
• Strong analytical and valuation skills with a process driven mindset
• Prior experience in used vehicle purchasing, automotive management, or appraisal preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Clean motor vehicle record and ability to pass background screening
• Proficiency with web-based applications, tablets, and dealership software tools.
